Would like a thank you note!

I would like a thank you note! Is it too much to ask for?

I'm a generous godparent to my best college friend's 3 lovely children, and do I adore them.

Without fail, every birthday and Christmas, I pick out cards and thoughtful (and not cheap!) gifts, but I have never received any kind of acknowledgment that they were even received, from the children, although I do get a verbal thank you from my friend.

The kids are all school age now and perfectly capable of putting pen to paper and sending me a brief thank you note - am I simply expecting too much?

I'm starting to feel more than a bit used here - really appreciate any advice you can give, before I jump in with both feet and say something I might regret!
